Zach Gilford (“Midnight Mass,” “Friday Night Lights”) has scored a key recurring role in “Criminal Minds: Evolution,” the upcoming revival of the long-running CBS crime drama for the Paramount+ service.
The project scored a series order to the revival in July with six long-time members of the show’s cast returning – Joe Mantegna, Kirsten Vangsness, Adam Rodriguez, A.J. Cook, Aisha Tyler and Paget Brewster.
Showrunner Erica Messer is also back, but actors Matthew Gray Gubler and Daniel Henney are out.
The plan is for a more serialized series as the FBI’s elite team of criminal profilers come up against their greatest threat yet – an UnSub who has used the pandemic to build a network of other serial killers.
As the world opens back up and the network goes operational, the team must hunt them down, one murder at a time. Gilford plays Elias Voit, an analyst for a cyber-security firm who has a dark side and an obsession with death.
