This week’s fourth season premiere of Paramount Network’s immensely popular drama series “Yellowstone” has smashed the show’s previous rating records.
Sunday night’s opener of the network’s flagship series scored 8 million total viewers in Live+Same Day – up from the 4.2 million who tuned into the third season last year. It also landed a 3.26 rating in adults 18-49 – up 82% from the third season premiere.
Nielsen reports that the episode was the most-watched cable series telecast since a 2018 episode of AMC’s “The Walking Dead” and ahead of “Game of Thrones” at the same point in its run (Thrones’ S4 premiere on HBO landed 6.6 million Live+Same Day).
Across four networks (Paramount Network telecasts and simulcasts on CMT, TV Land & Pop) the premiere drew 9.5 million total viewers while full-night event, including premieres and encores, delivered 11.2 million viewers (S3 was 6.6 million).
