Kelly Marcel, who penned the second “Venom” film solo, will direct the upcoming third installment of the Marvel Comics adaptation for Sony Pictures.
Marcel has worked closely with the franchise’s star Tom Hardy since 2008’s “Bronson”. She was one of several writers on the original “Venom” before penning “Venom: Let There Be Carnage” solo.
She will pen the script and make her directorial debut on the third film which hails from a story by herself and Hardy. Avi Arad, Matt Tolmach, Amy Pascal and Hutch Parker produce.
The two previous films have brought in over $1.36 billion at the box-office to date.
