Worrying Signs For “Star Wars: KOTOR” Remake

Star Wars Kotor Remake Paused Indefinitely

In what’s seen as concerning signs over its status, at least two major references to the proposed “Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic” game remake have been scrubbed from PlayStation’s official social media accounts.

It was recently noticed that an old tweet from the main PlayStation Twitter account, one announcing the PS5 and PC game, has been deleted.

In addition, the title’s reveal trailer, which was posted on the official PlayStation YouTube channel following a PlayStation Showcase event in September 2021, has suddenly been made private.

This has quickly led to speculation the title has been cancelled. In recent months there have been reports of troubled development on this collaboration between developer Aspyr Media, Lucasfilm Games and Sony Interactive Entertainment.

Embracer Group acquired Aspyr in 2021 and put it under the Saber Interactive label. Last year, Bloomberg posted a report indicating Aspyr had paused work on the game, with speculation at the time being Saber had taken over the development of the project.

Embracer wouldn’t comment on the game’s status back in May. In June, the company was implementing a ‘restructuring program’ that would see some game studios closed and projects cancelled.
