The Roku Channel have released a second still from the currently filming Weird Al Yankovic biopic, this one coming with the announcement that confirms “Westworld” actress Evan Rachel Wood will play a mid-1980s version of Madonna in the movie.
Daniel Radcliffe stars as Weird Al in the movie which will likely touch upon Yankovic’s “Like a Surgeon,” a spoof of Madonna’s smash hit “Like a Virgin”. Yankovic had Madonna’s blessing to do the parody, it’s even alleged she came up with the title.
In addition, it has also been announced that Rainn Wilson has been cast as legendary radio host Dr. Demento while Toby Huss and Julianne Nicholson will play Yankovic’s parents Nick and Mary.
Yankovic himself co-wrote the film with Eric Appel who will also direct the movie which promises to hold nothing back including looks into Al’s “torrid celebrity love affairs and famously depraved lifestyle”.
“Weird: The Al Yankovic Story” is expected to premiere on The Roku Channel later this year.
