“Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters” and “Dead Snow” director Tommy Wirkola has been set to helm the adult-targeted animated comedy musical “Spermageddon”.
The story follows two narrative threads. One is the emerging love story between two awkward teens, Jens and Lisa, who are having sex for the first time. The other is the eventful quest of Simon the Semen and his friends to reach the golden goal, the Egg.
Wirkola says in a statement: “This is both a road movie and an epic adventure, a most incredible journey, much like Lord of the Rings. But instead of Orcs and elves, our heroes have to do battle with sperm-killing creams and e.Coli trolls.”
Charades (“Mirai,” “Belle”) has boarded the project and will represent it in international markets. Production will kick off late this year with animation handled by the Norwegian studio Qvisten. Rasmus Sivertsen co-directs from a script by Wirkola, Jesper Sundnes and Vegar Hoel.
