“Winnie-the-Pooh” Prequel Film & Series Planned

Disney

Several former DreamWorks Animation alum are teaming for a film and TV series prequel to A.A. Milne’s classic Winnie-the-Pooh book series.

Mike de Seve (“Monsters vs. Aliens”) is lined up to direct the film and will co-write alongside John Reynolds (“The Mr. Peabody & Sherman Show”) with the project taking much inspiration from the acclaimed “Paddington” films.

Reynolds says in a statement: “We’re telling the surprising origin story of the ‘silly young bear’ and his friends, when they were still kids, in a way designed to connect with 21st-century kids.”

The film has a planned release date of 2024 and is set to be immediately followed by a TV series. De Seve’s animation studio Baboon is teaming with IQI to produce the prequel feature.
