Erin Kellyman (“Solo: A Star Wars Story”), Cailee Spaeny (“The Craft: Legacy”), and Ellie Bamber (“The Trial of Christine Keeler”) are in talks to star in the “Willow” TV series at Disney+ and Imagine Television. Specifics of their characters are under wraps.
The series will take place years after the events of the original 1988 film and will introduce new characters to the world. The project was officially ordered to series last month with the film’s original star, Warwick Davis, set to return as well.
The film follows Davis’ Willow Ufgood who is reluctantly forced into playing a critical role in protecting a special infant named Elora Danan from an evil queen (Jean Marsh) who believes a prophecy that Elora would bring about her downfall. Val Kilmer, Joanne Whalley, Billy Barty and Kevin Pollak co-starred.
Jon M. Chu will direct the pilot and executive produce while Jonathan Kasdan and Wendy Mericle will serve as showrunners. Ron Howard, who directed the original film, will return to executive produce. Original writer Bob Dolman serves as consulting producer, with Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy on board as an executive producer alongside Michelle Rejwan.
