“Wicked” Film Sets Its Supporting Cast

Filmmaker Jon M. Chu’s two-part film adaptation of the musical “Wicked” has filled out its supporting cast.

As we know Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo will take on the key roles of Glinda and Elphaba respectively in this “The Wizard of Oz” prequel which follows how the pair became the Good Witch of the North and the Wicked Witch of the West respectively.

They’re joined by Jonathan Bailey as Fiyero, Michelle Yeoh as Madame Morrible, Ethan Slater as Boq, and Jeff Goldblum as the Wizard, with Goldblum now officially set (previously, he was only in talks).

Today comes the news that Marissa Bode will play Elphaba’s sister Nessarose, Bowen Yang and Bronwyn James will play university classmates Pfannee and ShenShen, Keala Settle is playing Miss Coddle, Aaron Teoh is Avaric and Colin Michael Carmichael is Professor Nikidik.

Universal Pictures will be releasing the two films at Christmas 2024 and Christmas 2025. Book writer Winnie Holzman and composer/lyricist Stephen Schwartz will also collaborate on the screenplay
