Here we continue a new monthly section that will offer a quick go-to list of what’s coming to cinemas, VOD & SVOD services, and gaming platforms over the coming weeks.
This isn’t a complete list, rather it’s one showcasing the major and some minor titles of note. The titles are separated by date and ordered with films first, then TV, then games.
April 2022 sees some big releases on the film front including high profile sequels like “Sonic the Hedgehog 2” and the third “Fantastic Beasts” film, Sony’s new Marvel film “Morbius,” the return of Michael Bay with “Ambulance,” Liam Neeson’s latest action entry “Memory,” an adaptation of the beloved kids books “The Bad Guys,” “The Lighthouse” helmer Robert Eggers’ new Viking epic “The Northman,” and the 4K edition of Robert Wise’s “Star Trek: The Motion Picture – Director’s Edition”.
Television is where it’s at this month though with the return of Michael Mann as part of HBO Max’s “Tokyo Vice” series, while “The Wire” creator David Simon is back with his corruption drama “We Own This City”.
High profile event series include “The Godfather” making-of series “The Offer,” Showtime’s anthology drama “The First Lady,” the Josh Brolin-led trippy “Outer Range,” Andrew Garfield exploring Mormon murder in “Under the Banner of Heaven,” Gary Oldman shepherding bad spies in “Slow Horses,” a reality-shifting Elisabeth Moss investigating a killer in “Shining Girls,” and David E. Kelley’s latest with “Anatomy of a Scandal”.
There’s also the final runs of “Ozark” and “Grace and Frankie,” and the long-awaited returns of “Better Call Saul,” “Russian Doll,” “The Flight Attendant,” “Mayans M.C.” and “Elite”. Sadly the gaming front is pretty anaemic beyond a “House of the Dead” remake,” the latest “MLB The Show” entry and the big one – “Lego Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga”.
