Whannell In Talks To Helm “The Wolfman”

Having reinvented “The Invisible Man” earlier this year to great acclaim, Universal Pictures and Blumhouse Productions are sticking with what they know – namely Australian filmmaker Leigh Whannell.

Whannell is reportedly in negotiations to direct the upcoming new iteration of “The Wolfman” which has Ryan Gosling attached to star. Blumhouse has also now boarded the picture to produce along with Gosling.

Whannell will also be writing the treatment for the film, based on an original idea of his own and inspired by the 1941 classic. Lauren Schuker Blum and Rebecca Angelo (“Orange is the New Black”) will then write the script.

Whannell’s “The Invisible Man” cost just $7 million to make but pulled in not just stellar reviews but a $124 million worldwide gross.
