WGA & AMPTP End Second Day Of Talks

The second day of the WGA and AMPTP’s direct negotiations took place today and though no deal is at hand, things are still looking up following yesterday’s progress.

Deadline reports that the parties involved had “significant and detailed” talks and are now “drilling down into the fine print”. The hope is to reach a new three-year contract “within hours or days”.

Just like yesterday, the big four – Netflix’s Ted Sarandos, Disney’s Bob Iger, Universal’s Donna Langley and Warner Bros Discovery’s David Zaslav – were reportedly in the room to help try to work out a deal.

Whenever a deal is reached, it’s expected it will be another two weeks before the agreement is ratified by the guild. The AMPTP also still has to nail down a new contract with SAG-AFTRA.

Today marks the 143rd day of the WGA strike, and the 70th day the SAG-AFTRA strike.

Update: A third day of negotiations has been scheduled for tomorrow (Friday) with the CEOs of Netflix, Disney, Universal, and Warner Bros Discovery also coming back.

In addition, the guild has issued a memo calling for a show of strength, asking “as many of you as possible to come out to the picket lines tomorrow”.
