Wes Anderson’s “Asteroid” Impacts In June

“Grand Budapest Hotel” and “Moonrise Kingdom” filmmaker Wes Anderson’s next big ensemble feature “Asteroid City”, has locked down a June 16th 2023 release date in cinemas.

Focus Features will give the film a limited theatrical release on that date, followed by a wider expansion planned for June 23rd. The film is set to find itself sandwiched between blockbusters “The Flash” on June 16th and “Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny” on June 30th.

The 1950s-set project unfolds in a fictional American desert town during a Junior Stargazer/Space Cadet convention. Chaos ensues as the event, organized to bring together students and parents from across the country for fellowship and scholarly competition, is spectacularly disrupted by world-changing events.

The utterly stacked cast includes Tom Hanks, Margot Robbie, Jason Schwartzman, Scarlett Johansson, Jeffrey Wright, Tilda Swinton, Bryan Cranston, Ed Norton, Adrien Brody, Liev Schreiber, Hope Davis, Stephen Park, Rupert Friend, Maya Hawke, Steve Carell, Matt Dillon, Hong Chau, Willem Dafoe, Tony Revolori, Sophia Lillis, Jeff Goldblum and Rita Wilson.

Anderson, Steven Rales and Jeremy Dawson produce.
