“Wednesday” Soars High On Netflix Charts

Netflix

Netflix has announced that Tim Burton’s “Addams Family” spin-off series “Wednesday” has become the third most popular English-language series in the streaming platform’s history.

Since its release on November 23rd, the series has pulled in a staggering 752.52 million hours viewed after just 13 days, including becoming the first English language series to top 400 million hours in a week. This is doubly impressive considering the relatively short runtimes of the eight-episode season.

At present, the series currently ranks behind only the fourth season of “Stranger Things” and “DAHMER – Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story”. It will very likely beat the latter as to put it in perspective, “Dahmer” reached 496 million hours viewed after 12 days. “Wednesday” is also on track to beat a billion hours viewed in its first four weeks.

This is also a very good sign the series will land a renewal for a second run. Jenna Ortega leads a cast that includes Catherine Zeta-Jones, Luis Guzmán, Isaac Ordonez, Fred Armisen, Victor Dorobantu, Riki Lindhome, Jamie McShane, Percy Hynes White, Hunter Doohan, Emma Myers, Gwendoline Christie and Christina Ricci.
