Sigourney Weaver and Margaret Qualley are set to co-star in Philippe Falardeau’s film adaptation of Joanna Rakoff’s bestselling novel “My Salinger Year” at Parallel Films (“Brooklyn”) and Memento Films International (“Call Me by Your Name”).
Set in New York in the 1990s, the story follows Joanna (Qualley) who leaves graduate school to pursue her dream of becoming a writer from her sink-less Brooklyn apartment with her socialist boyfriend.
She gets hired to join a plush office as an assistant to Margaret (Weaver), the stoic and old-fashioned literary agent of J. D. Salinger. Processing his voluminous fan mail, she discovers her own voice in the process.
Luc Dery and Kim McCraw are producing. Filming begins in Montreal and New York this Spring.
