Warner Bros. Discovery President and CEO David Zaslav has confirmed that the new combined HBO Max and Discovery+ service is launching in the Spring of 2023 – several months earlier than anticipated.
Talking on the company’s Q3 earnings call, he also says the new service will offer an expanded global footprint and push for it to be available across the globe starting next year.
The company saw streaming subscriptions rise to nearly 95 million combined global customers across HBO, HBO Max and Discovery+ by the end of the quarter. That’s up 2.8 million worldwide for the three-month period.
He also touched upon the rechristened DCU and its new bosses James Gunn and Peter Safran. He says the pair have a “powerful vision and blueprint that will drive a more unified creative approach” for DC.
Zaslav also confirmed “The Flash,” “Shazam! Fury of the Gods,” “Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom” and “Blue Beetle” are all still slated for theatrical release in 2023.
