Warner Bros. Pictures has signed a deal with a company named Cinelytic, the deal allowing Warners to use Cinelytic’s AI-driven project management system launched last year.
Warners will reportedly “leverage the system’s comprehensive data and predictive analytics to guide decision-making at the greenlight stage”. The integrated online platform also allows for assessment of the value of a star in any territory and how much a film is expected to make in theaters and on other ancillary streams
In other words, a computer will help determine what film projects the studio will move forward with. The platform is also said to be very helpful in things like festival settings where studios get caught in bidding wars and must consider forking over a bunch of cash after only hours of assessment
Smaller distributor STX, which had a number of flops in 2019, became a Cinelytic client in September.
