“Spider-Man: No Way Home” director Jon Watts is rumored to be in talks to direct at least one episode of a new and unannounced “Star Wars” series for the Disney+ service.

Discussing Film issued the report indicating Watts has been invited to sit in the director’s chair for at least one episode of the series that is apparently going by the working title of “Grammar Rodeo.”

Jon Favreau is said to be attached to executive produce the new series which is currently scheduled to start shooting this summer in Los Angeles and is believed to focus on a “younger generation of heroes” during the High Republic era two centuries before the prequels.

The previously announced “Star Wars: The Acolyte” series is also set during the High Republic era and is currently in pre-production ahead of filming soon in the United Kingdom, but the one Watts has been linked to is said to be a different series which is likely to be announced at Star Wars Celebration in May.

A third season of “The Mandalorian” has reportedly nearly wrapped production ahead of the “Star Wars: Ahsoka” series shooting in Los Angeles this Spring which suggests this new series would then take that studio space after “Ahsoka” wraps. A second season of “Star Wars: Andor” is scheduled to begin production this Fall in the UK.

Watts’ involvement in the project will depend on his schedule with the helmer attached to Marvel Studios’ “Fantastic Four” reboot, producing a sixth “Final Destination,” and steering an Apple TV+ series reuniting George Clooney and Brad Pitt. He recently filmed the pilot of the new FX series “The Old Man” starring Jeff Bridges.
