Disney Pictures is in final talks with Australian actress Mia Wasikowska to star in Tim Burton’s “Alice in Wonderland” says The Hollywood Reporter.
Based on a script by Linda Woolverton (“The Lion King”), Burton’s new take on Lewis Carroll’s classic fantasy novel will be shot with live-action and performance-capture footage and presented in Disney Digital 3-D.
Wasikowska started in the Aussie medical drama “All Saints” and became a regular on HBO’s “In Treatment”. She’s also in a few upcoming films including the Daniel Craig WW2 thriller “Defiance” and the Hilary Swank-lead Amelia Earhart biopic.
Shooting begins in November.
