After more than a year of waiting for an update, it has been confirmed that not only is Cinemax’s “Warrior” series still coming back for a third season, but production is finally set to kick off on July 18th.

Shannon Lee, the daughter of martial arts master Bruce Lee,
delivered the news on her late father’s Twitter account. The period crime drama series is based on a storyline that the late Bruce Lee created decades ago.

Set during the Tong Wars in San Francisco during the late 1870s, Andrew Koji stars as martial arts virtuoso Ah Sahm who leaves China to search for his missing sister finds himself being sold to one of the most deadly and revered Tong families.

The series premiered in 2019 with the second season debuting in late 2020. HBO Max renewed the show for a third-round in April last year with the show moving to the streamer, but there have been no updates since then.

The series also stars Jason Tobin, Dianne Doan, Olivia Cheng, Joanna Vanderham, Hoon Lee, Joe Taslim, Dean S. Jagger, Langley Kirkwood, Rich Ting, and Dustin Nguyen.

Shannon Lee is an executive producer alongside Justin Lin, Danielle Woodrow, Andrew Schneider, and Richard Sharkey. Jonathan Tropper (“Banshee”) is the creator and showrunner.
