Warner Bros. Discovery is partnering with Web3 firm Eluvio for the start of a major initiative involving NFTs.
The pair are teaming up to re-release a 4K copy of the entirety of the extended version of Peter Jackson’s “The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring” as an NFT bundle.
The 2001 film, along with behind-the-scenes footage, photos and exclusive assets inspired by the film, will be included and will live on Eluvio’s branded Content Blockchain.
Eluvio CEO Michelle Munson says the core digital assets themselves, not just the token, are on the blockchain.
The plan is for this to be the star of a potential ‘WB Movieverse’ that will see more films translated into NFTs with Munson saying in a press release this can go beyond Web3 enthusiasts to a mass consumer audience and claims to be an “epic living media experience”.
“The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring” Extended Edition Digital Movie NFT will be available to purchase on October 21st.
