Warners Mostly Skipping Comic-Con 2022

Warners Mostly Skipping Comic Con

While TV is going big as usual at San Diego Comic-Con next month, the film world remains cautious about returning to the event it seems.

According to THR, Warner Bros. Discovery will use the event to tubthump some of its series content from HBO Max titles like “House of the Dragon” and “Harley Quinn” getting shown along with looks at Warners-produced content like “The Sandman” series. All three are expected to have Hall H panels.

However the first time though Warners, including DC, will have no presence on the convention floor – a move that breaks with decades of precedent.

As for a panel for Warner Bros. Pictures and DC Films? A final decision apparently hasn’t been made but it’s not looking likely. The “Aquaman” and “Shazam” sequels, “Black Adam,” “Batgirl” and “DC’s League of Super-Pets” are the obvious ones to be touted if it goes ahead, whereas it’s too early for well into 2023 titles like “The Flash” and “Blue Beetle”.

The CW is also sitting the convention out, so there will be no panels for DC shows like “The Flash,” “Superman and Lois” or the upcoming “Gotham Knights” along with other CW series like the “Supernatural” prequel. The sole exception will be “Riverdale” which is coming to Hall H to promote its sixth and final season.

Universal Pictures and Paramount Pictures are also sitting this year out as well, with Marvel being the one who will have some presence as it makes a heralded return to Hall H after several years of absence.
