Warner Brothers and Spotify have come to an expansive first-look licensing deal, a multi-year and multi-project pact that will see the DC universe and its assorted characters expanding heavily into podcasting with a slate of scripted audio shows that will stream exclusively on Spotify.
In addition to DC projects, Warner Bros. will look to turn other characters and franchises from its vast library of IP into Spotify podcasts. The deal leaves room for the companies to produce new stories together not based on existing IP and which could be turned back into Warners properties in other mediums.
The companies aren’t saying whether Batman, Wonder Woman or Superman and the like will be the focus of the new projects, but indicated the shows will feature iconic DC characters. Warner Bros. will lead the development and production of the projects in collaboration with Spotify.
