“War of the Worlds” Sweeps The Razzies

Amazon

Unsurprisingly, Amazon Prime Video’s “War of the Worlds” film starring Ice Cube has swept this year’s 46th Razzie Awards celebrating the worst films of the year.

The film, a pandemic shot cyber-take on H.G. Wells’ classic novel that serves as little more than an infomercial for Amazon, took five honors including Worst Picture, Worst Actor, Worst Director, Worst Screenplay and Worst Prequel, Remake, Rip-Off or Sequel.

The only one of its six nominations it lost was for Worst Screen Combo, that honor going to the CG Seven Dwarves in Disney’s live-action “Snow White” film who also won Worst Supporting Actor for their combined performances.

Two others handed out were Rebel Wilson taking Worst Actress for “Bride Hard,” and Scarlet Rose Stallone landing Worst Supporting Actress for “Gunslingers”.

The Razzie Redeemer Award went to Kate Hudson for her Oscar-nominated performance in “Song Sung Blue,” a turnaround for the actress who has had a number of Razzie nominations in recent years.

Other nominees like “Star Trek: Section 31,” “The Electric State,” “Hurry Up Tomorrow,” In the Lost Lands,” and “Smurfs” all walked away empty handed.
