Following the season finale of “Doctor Who,” the BBC and Disney+ have released the first trailer for the spin-off series “The War Between the Land and the Sea”.
In the series, a fearsome and ancient species emerges from the ocean, dramatically revealing itself to humanity. An international crisis is triggered, and with the entire population at risk – UNIT steps into action as the land and sea wage war
The five-part series will feature the return of Sea Devils which Davies calls a huge, muscular, thrilling drama with a darker and more adult tone akin to his “Torchwood: Children of Earth” work. In fact, Colin McFarlane reprises his role of General Austin Pierce from that mini-series here.
Russell Tovey, Gugu Mbatha-Raw, Jemma Redgrave and Alexander Devrient will lead the cast of the series which Disney Branded Television and BBC are producing.
The project hails from showrunner and executive producer Russell T. Davies who is co-writing it with Pete McTighe. Davies, Phil Collinson, Joel Collins, Julie Gardner, and Jane Tranter executive produce.
Dylan Holmes-Williams, who directed recent acclaimed ‘Who’ episodes “73 Yards” and “Dot and Bubble,” will direct the series which is expected to launch sometime in 2026.
