Walter Hill Confirms “Alien 5” Treatment

Recently the “Alien” franchise has been making headlines again. It began with Ridley Scott expressing that he still wishes to do at least one more prequel to his 1979 original – one that would effectively close out the “Prometheus” trilogy.

Then last week, Sigourney Weaver spoke with Empire and revealed that producer Walter Hill presented her with a 50-page treatment for a new film a while back, an Ellen Ripley-centric movie that’s apparently quite different to Neill Blomkamp’s cancelled “Aliens” direct sequel.

Weaver said then that it’s unlikely she’ll return to her career defining role: “I don’t know. Ridley has gone in a different direction. Maybe Ripley has done her bit. She deserves a rest.”

Now Hill himself has responded to that whilst speaking with SYFY Wire (via Ronin). He confirmed he and producer David Giler have co-written a lengthy treatment for the new film dated March of this year and has already presented it to Weaver:

“Sigourney, as she has from the very beginning, is being too modest about her proven ability to pull off the idea – which is to tell a story that scares the pants off your date, kicks the ass of a new Xenomorph, and conducts a meditation on both the universe of the ‘Alien’ franchise and the destiny of the character of Lt. Ellen Ripley.”

For now the “Alien” franchise remains on ice following 2017’s disappointing “Alien: Covenant”.
