Though “Superman: Legacy” in July 2025 is being marked as the start of the new DC Universe initiative from DC Studios Co-CEOs James Gunn and Peter Safran, it won’t be the first project from the pair to hit screens.
Taking to Twitter to answer questions with some very short responses, Gunn confirms that “Creature Commandos” is going to arrive before the new “Superman” film as expected.
However, he also confirmed that “if it is done in time,” the “Waller” series starring Viola Davis’ Amanda Waller will also be released before the “Superman” film.
One thing that won’t be though is another season of “Peacemaker” with Gunn confirming the second season is still coming but will arrive after “Superman: Legacy”. Some of the cast is expected to show up in “Waller”.
Gunn’s responses also confirmed many more creatives are already attached to DC Studios’ upcoming projects, but haven’t been announced as yet. One of them might be his “Guardians” cohort Bradley Cooper as when asked if he sees himself working with Cooper again, Gunn responded: “Very much so”.
The DC Universe’s first phase, titled “Chapter One: Gods and Monsters,” has ten announced projects so far – five movies and five television shows. All are in development, bar “Creature Commandos” which has seven episodes currently in production.
