“Walking Dead” Film Script Well Underway

Like its many zombies, “The Walking Dead” refuses to die. However like any major film or TV production, the pandemic has shut down most work on it for now.

That hasn’t stopped it though as according to director Greg Nicotero, both the TV series and the planned upcoming film that will see Andrew Lincoln return to the fold are all still active.

Speaking to Syfy, Nicotero says many of the show’s writers are still working in the downtime to tweak or finish the scripts as that’s a job that can be easily done from home:

“From what I understand from Mr. Gimple, the script is well underway. I’ve looked at a couple of early drafts, but I haven’t seen anything lately, but from what I understand they’re digging away at it. One thing about this kind of situation is people that work at home… you know, writers… they’re able to take advantage of this time, and it’s a good time.

I have a feeling that when people push the play button again, there’s going to be a lot of material that’s going to be ready to go, because everyone’s getting scripts, and getting stuff just right to the point where they can get it ready before you start shooting. I think there’s going to be a lot of busy people, hopefully… hopefully in a few weeks?”

Scott M. Gimple, the former showrunner of the main series turned shepherd of the whole franchise, has previously said he intends the film to heighten the stakes for Rick Grimes whilst at the same time serving as a kind of “Logan”-esque swan song works entirely on its own.
