Hilarie Burton (“One Tree Hill,” “Council of Dads”) has scored the key guest starring role of Negan’s late wife Lucille, the woman whom inspired the name of his barb-wired baseball bat, for the now extended run of the tenth season of “The Walking Dead”.
Burton’s real-life husband Jeffrey Dean Morgan plays Negan in the series and Burton will appear in several bonus episodes adding on to the events of the tenth season whose finale was delayed by the pandemic. Her character dies from pancreatic cancer before the events of the series.
The series has generally had sixteen episode seasons running in two blocks of eight episodes each. The tenth season has completed airing its sixteen but will not get an additional six episodes added to it with those broadcast in early 2021.
The show will conclude with super-sized eleventh season consisting of twenty four episodes to air over two years starting late 2021.
