Waititi Promises New “Thor” Is ‘Bonkers’

After hitting a home run with 2017’s “Thor: Ragnarok,” filmmaker Taika Waititi returns to the Marvel Cinematic Universe with “Thor: Love and Thunder” which completed filming the other month in Sydney, Australia.

Speaking with Empire recently, the New Zealand director of the likes of “Hunt for the Wilderpeople” and “What We Do In the Shadows” says any restraints he had on his previous “Thor” film have come off.

The result is an absolutely “bonkers” movie that even he can’t believe he gets to make:

“I’ve done some crazy s–t in my life. I’ve lived, like, ten lifetimes. But it’s the craziest film I’ve ever done. If you wrote down all the elements of this film, it shouldn’t make sense. It’s almost like it shouldn’t be made. If you walked into a room and said, ‘I want this and this and this.’ Who’s in it? These people. What are you going to call it? Love And Thunder. I mean, you’d never work again. Maybe I won’t after this.”

Then asked to compare it to his last “Thor” outing, he claims it is ‘very different’ from “Thor: Ragnarok” and goes on to say:

“It’s crazier. I’ll tell you what’s different. There’ll be far more emotion in this film. And a lot more love. And a lot more thunder. And a lot more Thor, if you’ve seen the photos.”

The new film not only boasts returnees Chris Hemsworth, Tessa Thompson, Jeff Goldblum, and Natalie Portman along with various “Guardians of the Galaxy” actors and Christian Bale as the villain Gorr The God Butcher.

It has also been revealed Hemsworth lent his voice to ‘Frog Thor’, a frog trapped in a jar seen in the most recent episode of “Thor”. Director Kate Herron spoke with For All Nerds and revealed that they freshly recorded Chris Hemsworth screaming “Aaaaahhhh” for that scene.

“Thor: Love and Thunder” is slated for a May 6th 2022 release.
