Filmmaker Taika Waititi’s schedule continues to fill up. The Kiwi director is promoting “Jojo Rabbit” releasing in October, filming his next directorial effort “Next Goal Wins” this Fall, and will begin prepping “Thor: Love and Thunder” early next year.
Now Deadline reports that Waititi is also in talks for a role in James Gunn’s “The Suicide Squad” at Warner Bros. Pictures and DC Films. Currently there’s no word on what role or how big it might be but the project is gearing up fast with a table read on September 11th and filming set to begin September 23rd.
Waititi would join a cast that includes returnees Margot Robbie (Harley Quinn), Viola Davis (Amanda Waller), Jai Courtney (Captain Boomerang), Joel Kinnaman (Rick Flag) and new castmembers Idris Elba, David Dastmalchian (Polka-Dot Man), Daniela Melchior (Ratcatcher), Steve Agee (King Shark), Flula Borg and Nathan Fillion.
Gunn wrote the script for the new film and Chuck Roven and Peter Safran are producing.
