“Waco: The Aftermath” Fills Out Cast

Paramount Network

Shea Wigham, Gary Cole and Alex Breaux are among the names announced today to be joining Showtime’s five-episode limited series “Waco: The Aftermath” which serves as a sequel to the 2018 mini-series “Waco” starring Taylor Kitsch and Michael Shannon.

One of the first major projects to premiere on the Paramount Network, the original series was a dramatized exploration of the 51-day 1993 standoff between the FBI, ATF and the religious cult the Branch Davidians in Waco, Texas – one which culminated in a fatal fire.

Kitsch played the cult’s charismatic leader David Koresh with Michael Shannon as FBI investigator and negotiator Gary Noesner. Shannon will reprise his role for the sequel series which focuses on the fallout of the disaster including the trials of the surviving members of the sect, and the rise of homegrown terrorist Timothy McVeigh.

Joining him will be Shea Whigham and Annika Marks reprising their roles from the original along with Alex Breaux as McVeigh, Gary Cole as intense private investigator Gordon Novel, Michael Cassidy as trial lead prosecutor Bill Johnston, Sasheer Zamata as experienced ATF agent Angie Graham, and the likes of Kali Rocha, Nicholas Kolev, Michael Vincent Berry and Michael Luwoye as surviving members who are on trial.

They all join previously announced co-stars John Leguizamo, Giovanni Ribisi, David Costabile, J. Smith Cameron, John Hoogenakker, Keean Johnson, and Abbey Lee. The news comes ahead of the 30th anniversary of the incident tomorrow.

Drew Dowdle and John Erick Dowdle serve as creators, showrunners, directors, and executive producers on the series. Initially produced for Paramount+ but now airing on Showtime, the sequel series will release weekly episodes from April 14th with the original “Waco” set to be available to stream in full on Showtime this Friday March 3rd.
