Apple has released a 21-minute short film which they commissioned from famed “Oldboy” and “The Handmaiden” Korean filmmaker Park Chan-wook.
Shot entire only iPhone 13 Pro and iPhone 13 Pro Max’s and titled “Life Is But a Dream,” it’s the first in Apple’s campaign to be produced, shot and edited entirely in Korea. The film also blends multiple genres (horror, rom-com, martial arts, fantasy and musical)
Yoo Hae-jin, Kim Ok-vin and Park Jeong-min star in the story of an undertaker who accidentally awakens the ghost of an ancient swordsman whilst trying to steal his coffin for a more recently slain warrior named ‘White Marten’. The latter is soon awakened as well with the two spectres battling.
The process is familiar for Park whose iPhone 4-shot short film “Night Fishing” in 2011 won the Golden Bear award at the Berlin Film Festival. Park will next be seen at the helm of HBO’s limited series “The Sympathizer”.
