Voice Artist Tom Kane Suffers Stroke

Celebrated voice artist Tom Kane had a left-side stroke in November that has left him largely unable to speak.

Kane’s daughter revealed the diagnosis in a Facebook post, explaining why her father had been off the radar for two months. She says he is still ‘very much himself,’ but the stroke has left him with little ability to communicate verbally.

Kane voiced Yoda in “Star Wars: The Clone Wars,” Admiral Ackbar in “Star Wars: The Last Jedi” and various characters across that franchise in films like “Rogue One” and “The Force Awakens”.

On the animated spy comedy series “Archer” he voiced the title character’s butler Woodhouse over several episodes, and played Professor Utonium in long-running kids series “Powerpuff Girls”.

His daughter says the family has him undergoing speech, occupational, and physical therapy to gain some of those lost functions back, but he may be unable to do voiceovers again.
