Oscar winner Alicia Vikander (“Tomb Raider”) and Emmy nominee Elizabeth Olsen (“WandaVision”) have signed on to co-lead the sci-fi drama feature “The Assessment” at Number 9 Films and Filmproduktion.
The pair will reportedly portray a couple living in a dystopian future where the world has been destroyed by climate change.
In this time, part of society has created a parallel world for itself where life is controlled and optimized, and the desire to have children is also not left to chance.
The lives of a successful young couple are put under close scrutiny by a female assessor over the course of seven days.
Also rumored to be hopping onboard is “Pitch Perfect” and “A Simple Favor” alum Anna Kendrick. Filming is expected to begin this summer in Cologne, Germany.
Olsen most recently starred in Max’s true crime limited drama “Love & Death” whilst Vikander recently shot HBO’s “Irma Vep” miniseries and playing the final wife of King Henry VIII in “Firebrand” opening later this year.
The project is set to be helmed by French filmmaker Fleur Fortuné in his directorial feature debut. The screenplay is written by Nell Garfath-Cox, Dave Thomas and John Donnelly.
