“Venom” Sequel Delayed Nine Months

The Andy Serkis-directed “Venom” sequel has been officially delayed by Sony Pictures to a new date nearly nine months later than planned.

Titled “Venom: Let There Be Carnage,” the follow-up to Sony’s 2018 superhero film will now open June 25th 2021 rather than early October this year.

Academy Award-nominated actor Tom Hardy will reprise the lead role of Eddie Brock. Michelle Williams, Woody Harrelson and Naomie Harris co-star respectively. The first film opened to a massive $855 million worldwide.

The news comes as the film’s writers, Scott Rosenberg and Jeff Pinkner, are set to write a live-action film adaptation of the worldwide hit manga series “One Punch Man” for Sony. That follows a superhero who can defeat any opponent with a single punch but seeks to find a worthy opponent.
