“Kingsman” and “The Gentlemen” filmmaker Matthew Vaughn is trying out TV for once with “Day 1,” a ten-episode series set in the world of soccer that Vaughn’s production company Marv Films will produce.
The story will follow promising young Premier League footballer Dezmond King and his crew as they navigate his growing stature and struggles. French soccer star Thierry Henry will appear in the series as himself and will also executive produce.
Hailing from “Entourage” creator and director Doug Ellin and Chris Case (“Mad About You”), the pair acting as co-showrunners on the series, while Vaughn will helm the pilot. Darren Dein will also produce and filming is due to begin in 2021 with casting now underway.
