USA Network has cancelled the Rosario Dawson-led “Briarpatch” after just one season.
Based on the Ross Thomas novel of the same name, the project was envisioned as an anthology but now the first season, with a complete story, has become effectively a limited series.
The ten episode first season hailed from executive producers Andy Greenwald and Sam Esmail and finished its run in April. The series had strong reviews, but ratings were weak.
Esmail, who also exec produces “Mr. Robot” and “Homecoming,” is currently working on the production paused “Angelyne” event series and a “Battlestar Galactica” reboot both for Peacock.
