Universal Television has hopped onboard “The Heralds of Valdemar,” a TV series adaptation of Mercedes Lackey’s Valdemar literary series.
Radar Pictures, who produces Amazon’s “Wheel of Time” series, optioned the rights to the ‘Valdemar’ books a year ago.
The story follows three teenagers chosen by fate to protect the realm – young queer hero Vanyel on a journey of self-discovery, sheltered cult escapee Talia, and determined princess Elspeth.
Though separated by centuries, their journeys are linked with each battling the same evil force as the world hangs in the balance.
Kit Williamson (“EastSiders”) is adapting with author Brittany Cavallaro with the pair to write and produce.
