Universal Pictures has gone spec script crazy, picking up three properties in the last day or two according to the trades.
The first is playwright David Auburn’s time-travel thriller script pitch “The Archive”. Auburn (“Proof,” “The Lake House”) will pen the script as a directing vehicle for James Mangold. Story details are unknown at present.
Second is Jeff Lowell’s action comedy spec script “Family Bond”. The story is described as a relationship story between a spy and his daughter. Marc Platt along with “Smallville” creators Miles Millar and Alfred Gough will produce.
Finally comes Dave H. Johnson’s comedy “Repeat After Me” which revolves around a couple who are essentially stuck in a “Groundhog Day” scenario – reliving their disastrous wedding day again and again and start to question whether to get married in the first place. Scott Stuber will produce.
