Universal Pictures and Focus Features will co-finance and co-produce the Korean vampire movie “Thirst” says Variety.
The story follows a priest who participates in a medical experiment to find a cure for a deadly disease with traumatic repercussions.
Park Chan-wook (“Oldboy,” “Sympathy for Lady Vengeance”) directs the project, the first time a Korean film has received U.S. studio funding and a distribution commitment before its local release.
Song Kang-ho, Shin Ha-kyun and Kim Ok-bi also star. The film will premiere on the festival circuit mid-2009.
