Universal Pictures is reportedly circling the Tom Cruise-led project that aims to be the first major narrative feature to at least partially film in space.
Doug Liman, who helmed Cruise’s “Edge of Tomorrow” and “American Made,” will direct and write the mysterious project. Both will produce while Elon Musk and NASA are also involved, but no script has been written as yet and story details are unknown.
It won’t come cheap either, the production budget is expected to cost at least $200 million.
Cruise will complete back-to-back seventh and eighth installments of the “Mission: Impossible” franchise first. That shoot was shut down amid the coronavirus pandemic and is restarting again in the UK.
