A poor quality copy of the back half of a teaser trailer for the upcoming “Uncharted” film briefly leaked online a few hours ago. Reports yesterday indicated the film’s first trailer will be released this week, this leak would suggest those rumors are accurate.
The footage that was seen focused squarely on Tom Holland’s turn as a younger version of treasure hunter Nathan Drake with only the briefest glimpse of Mark Wahlberg as his mentor Victor ‘Sully’ Sullivan.
The majority of the clip shows a fairly faithful recreation of one of the most famed set pieces of the third game “Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception” as Drake clambers up netted cargo containers hanging out the back of a transport plane. This time though it appears to be over some tropical archipelago as opposed to an Arabian desert.
This also suggests the film will use some other iconic set pieces from the games as references in the film, even though the movie itself is essentially serving as a prequel to the titles in one of PlayStation’s biggest franchises.
Antonio Banderas, Sophia Ali and Tati Gabrielle co-star. Ruben Fleischer (“Zombieland,” “Venom”) helms the movie which is set to get a theatrical release on February 18th 2022.
