U.S. Films Pulled From Russian Release

Multiple major studio films have been pulled from planned theatrical releases in Russia as the country continues its invasion of Ukraine.

Warner Bros. Pictures has pulled “The Batman,” Sony has removed “Morbius,” Paramount has pulled “Sonic the Hedgehog 2” and “The Lost City,” and Disney has pulled “Turning Red” and any further theatrical releases from the country temporarily with “future business decisions based on the evolving situation”.

That’s not all though as Netflix will not carry the twenty Russian free-to-air propaganda channels that they could be required to host under Russian law.

The law is not yet fully implemented and Netflix is the only international player that falls under the potential regulation due to its user base size.

This all comes as the Motion Picture Association on Monday night issued its first statement since the Ukraine invasion began, saying they stand with the international community in upholding the rule of law and condemning Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.
