Filmmaker, actor, writer and producer Tyler Perry has signed a multi-year, first-look feature deal with Netflix.
Perry will write, direct and produce films for the streamer and is already working on several titles for them.
First off the block will be “Six Triple Eight,” a World War II period film about the only all-Black, all-female battalion stationed overseas in the war effort. Kerry Washington and Oprah Winfrey are in the cast.
Also on the list is the legal drama “Mea Culpa” starring Kelly Rowland as a criminal defense attorney who takes on the case of an artist arrested for murdering his girlfriend.
Perry already has a non-exclusive pact with Amazon announced last year with him writing, directing and producing four features to be released on Prime Video. Police brutality drama “Black, White, and Blue” and Meagan Good marriage drama “Divorce in the Black” fall under this deal.
Perry previously teamed with Netflix on “A Jazzman’s Blues,” A Fall from Grace” and “A Madea Homecoming”.
