Tom Holland has several films outside of the MCU on the way soon and two of them seem to have set release dates.
First up, Variety reports that Lionsgate has set its long-delayed and costly Doug Liman-directed sci-fi movie “Chaos Walking” for a January 22nd 2021 opening. That’s almost two years after it was originally slated to launch on March 1st last year and a bit over three years after filming commenced back in August 2017.
Holland, Daisy Ridley, Mads Mikkelsen, Cynthia Erivo, Nick Jonas, David Oyelowo and Kurt Sutter star in the film based on the Patrick Ness novel which is set in a dystopian colony world where all living creatures can hear each other’s thoughts and all women in the colony are killed. When one young man comes upon a patch of silence, he meets a mysterious young woman.
The project famous underwent major reshoots following poor test screenings, but other commitments of the two stars delayed the reshoots until April last year. Fede Alvarez helmed the reshoots which reportedly came in at a cost of $15 million on top of the $90-100 million already spent.
In less official news, the website What’s On Netflix is reporting that Antonio Campos’ dark period psychological thriller “The Devil All the Time” will premiere on the service exclusively on May 15th.
The story follows a bunch of twisted characters from serial killers to violent sons and spider-handling preachers in the mid-west in the wake of WW2. Holland co-stars with Robert Pattinson, Bill Skarsgard, Sebastian Stan, Mia Wasikowska, Riley Keough, Jason Clarke and Eliza Scanlen.
That date, however, has not yet been confirmed by the service itself.
