Two actors working on the Netflix series “The Chosen One” reportedly died on Thursday after a van ran off the road and flipped whilst driving near Mulege on the Baja California Sur peninsula.
Raymundo Garduno Cruz and Juan Francisco Gonzalez Aguilar were the two actors who were killed according to the Associated Press (via THR). The incident also left two other cast members and four crew members of the production injured. All six survivors remain in stable condition.
The accident reportedly did not occur on the set of the production, rather the cast & crew were in transit from Santa Rosalia to the local airport. An investigation into the cause of the accident remains ongoing.
Production company Redrum has elected to pause production on the series for the time being and it’s not clear how the accident will impact the show moving forward. Filming reportedly began in April.
The series, based on the Mark Millar comic “American Jesus,” follows a twelve-year-old boy who learns he is the returned Jesus Christ, with possession of his biblical powers and a destiny to save humankind. It marks the second Millarworld series following last year’s poorly received “Jupiter’s Legacy”.
