TV Series Trailer: Peacock’s “Noughts + Crosses”

Peacock has snagged the U.S. rights to BBC One’s limited series “Noughts + Crosses” and will premiere it on the service on Friday, September 4th.

An adaptation of a popular series of novels by Malorie Blackman, the alternate reality set show explores the idea of what a modern world would look like if Europe had been conquered and enslaved by Africa seven centuries ago.

Set in the present day, society is heavily segregated and power is held by wealthy black citizens (called ‘Crosses’) while white citizens (called ‘Noughts’) are poor and oppressed, and regularly subjected to violence and discrimination at the hands of the state.

The series aired in the UK earlier this year and received mostly positive reviews. “Being Human” creator Toby Whithouse penned the series which also follows a pair of star-crossed lovers – the daughter of a Cross politician who befriends a male Nought.
