TV Promos: Utopia, Dark, Seekers, Trek, Wizards

Utopia
The first trailer has hit from Amazon Prime’s remake of 2013 British series “Utopia” with “Gone Girl” writer Gillian Flynn serving as creator, executive producer, writer, and showrunner.

John Cusack, Sasha Lane, Dan Byrd, Jessica Rothe, Ashleigh LaThrop and Desmin Borges co-star in the series which follows a group of comic book nerds who bond over a popular fictional comic book called Dystopia.

With a sequel called Utopia close to arrival, they get together at a convention to get a sneak peek and soon find themselves being chased by trained assassins who are trying to stop anyone from reading it.

His Dark Materials
HBO has released the first trailer for the second and final season of “His Dark Materials,” one which includes the first look at the mysterious city of Cittagaze. Lord Asriel (James McAvoy) has opened a bridge to a new world, and, distraught over the death of her best friend, Lyra follows Asriel into the unknown.

In a strange and mysterious abandoned city she meets Will a boy from our world who is also running from a troubled past. Lyra and Will learn their destinies are tied to reuniting Will with his father but find their path is constantly thwarted as a war begins to brew around them. Meanwhile, Mrs. Coulter searches for Lyra, determined to bring her home by any means necessary.

Truth Seekers
Amazon Prime has dropped the trailer for the Simon Pegg and Nick Frost-led horror-comedy series “Truth Seekers” in which the pair play part of a team of misfit ghost hunters. Malcolm McDowell, Emma D’Arcy, Samson Kayo and Susan Wokoma co-star.

Star Trek: Lower Decks
Following its screening during a Comic Con @ Home panel, the first clip from the animated comedy “Star Trek: Lower Decks” has gone online. The story is set amongst the lowest ranking officers of the U.S.S. Cerritos who have to do the jobs that are more about cleaning toilets than saving the galaxy.

Wizards
The last of the “Tales from Arcadia” trilogy, Guillermo del Toro’s DreamWorks animated fantasy series “Wizards,” has released a trailer. Running for a single season, the ten episode series debuts on August 7th on Netflix and follows on from “Trollhunters” and “3 Below”. In the new series, the Trollhunters gang is sent back in time through a magical rift, landing in Camelot where a war between humans and trolls is raging.
