Peacock has announced an August 18th premiere date for the six-part drama series “The Undeclared War” starring Mark Rylance, Simon Pegg, Hannah Khalique-Brown, Alex Jennings and Maisie Richardson-Sellers. Peter Kosminsky serves as writer/director.
Set in the post-pandemic world of 2024 in a UK on the verge of a general election. The GCHQ is tasked with wading off a cyber attack aimed at the nation’s electoral system. The entire series will be made available on that date. [Source: Collider]
School Spirits
Paramount+ has ordered the young adult drama series “School Spirits” starring Peyton List (“Cobra Kai”) while Oliver Goldstick (“Pretty Little Liars”) serves as showrunner.
Based on the upcoming graphic novel by Nate and Megan Trinrud, the story focuses on a teenage girl who gets trapped in a limbo afterlife. With no other options, she rallies other stunts trapped in the limbo of their high school to team up and investigate her disappearance. [Source: Variety]
Ironheart
Manny Montana (“Good Girls) is set as a series regular opposite Dominique Thorne in Marvel Studios’ Disney+ series “Ironheart” which is now filming.
Thorne stars as Riri Williams, a genius inventor and creator of the most advanced suit of armor since Iron Man. Anthony Ramos co-stars while Sam Bailey and Angela Barnes are directing. [Source: Deadline]
Patagonia: Life on the Edge of the World
Chilean actor Pedro Pascal will narrate the six-part CNN nature docuseries “Patagonia: Life on the Edge of the World” which debuts on July 10th.
The project uses visual storytelling in the style of programming like Planet Earth to explore the Patagonia region of South America, straddling Chile and Argentina. [Source: THR]
Maggie
Hulu has set a July 6th premiere date and released a new trailer for the Rebecca Rittenhouse-led romance drama “Maggie”. The story follows a psychic who accidentally sees her own romantic future when she reads a stranger’s palm. The only problem is the love of her life is her neighbor who is already in a relationship.
Tuca & Bertie
Adult Swim has premiered the trailer for the third season of its adult animated comedy series “Tuca & Bertie” starring Tiffany Haddish and Ali Wong. Episodes return July 10th and will be made available on HBO Max the following day.
In the new season, Tuca begins a fresh romantic relationship and Bertie struggles with a new boss at work. Meanwhile, Speckle (Steven Yeun) has opportunities on the horizon, but may be bringing Bertie down more than she realizes.
